The latest news from around the globe, and in the U.S., includes:A major coronavoid outbreak has sickened nearly 50,000 people in Mexico and is expected to continue through the weekend, a health official said Monday.
In Mexico City, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said a coronavid outbreak has now affected 42,000 residents, and there are now more than 8,000 confirmed cases.
The government said the deaths are being counted by the public health system.
The coronavids can cause pneumonia, heart attack and severe liver damage.
The disease affects the lungs, the brain and spinal cord.
