(AP) A doctor who treated a Missouri woman with COVID will receive a $1.6 million settlement after she contracted the virus from her doctor.
Missouri Department of Health spokesman Kevin Anderson said Monday that Dr. Susan Schatz-Bagley will receive the settlement on Wednesday.
The woman contracted COVID while treating a man with the illness, according to a statement from the department.
The man contracted it while living in the same home as Schatz, and she was diagnosed with COVI in July.
Schatz-Cagley has since been cleared to work and her husband has since gone into voluntary retirement.
The state has since paid a total of more than $1 million in legal fees to cover the settlement.
